X-Gluc (5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-β-D-glucuronic acid) is a substrate for β-glucuronidase, an acid hydrolase encoded by the uid A gene. in
histochemical assays, X-Gluc produces a blue precipitate in the presence of β-glucuronidase. Requires resuspension in DMSO.
